About the practice

A considered approach to making

Elena Marlowe

Working between observation and abstraction, Elena builds each piece through successive layers of paint, drawing, and erasure. Her work is guided by the textures of lived environments and the subtle ways that light, weather, and time reshape a place.

Practice statement

The studio practice begins with collected impressions—quick drawings, color notes, photographs, and remembered sensations. These fragments are gradually translated into compositions that leave space for ambiguity and personal association.
